The Pause

I met a goal after a long journey
Finally ticking it off my worn out list

Strangely, I exhale a deep soft sigh
As if I were at some kind of an end

I realise why, as I feel myself change
And a different person takes my place

The unchecked items on the list in hand
Make no sense to her and she pauses

Clearly, she has to begin all over again
And for some time then, I merely exist

With no new dreams or fresh thoughts
Only memories of the past keeping company

She'll take over from me as soon as
She finds the reason for her existence

Till then, I exist, caught in the pause

I'd love to read a conversation between you and her...oh, if conversations aren't a violation of your pause :)

It sounds like an intermission where the title of the film is said and there is pause/break... Much alike here I see you describing your state of mind, which is, a 'clean slate'... :)

Expecting an ever entertaining new start with fresh perspectives.
